Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Solutions Engineer to join our team. The Solutions Engineer will be responsible for driving customer satisfaction with high-level technologies, by building the right architecture for each customer, training customers on specific technologies, building solutions that help customers get the best out of products, providing technical support to clients and internal sales, troubleshooting and resolving issues related to PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, MES, IIoT, Databases, Computing, Connectivity, Digital Transformation and Industry 4.0. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in the mentioned topics, as well as exceptional sales, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Marketing

Key Responsibilities 

Sales

  • Evaluate customer needs and recommend appropriate products, solutions, and architectures.
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations, documentation, and demonstrations to customers.
  • Help create and maintain sales material that has technical topics.
  • Collaborate with partners and resellers to develop joint solutions and sales strategies.

Marketing

  • Collaborate with marketing to develop marketing materials (technical articles, technical videos, webinars, etc).
  • Participate in trade shows, conferences, and other events to promote products and services.
  • Provide technical support for marketing

Training

  • Train customers on product features and functionality.
  • Do internal training for sales and marketing to promote sales growth.
  • Maintain existing training up to date, based on new product updates.
  • Build new training if needed.

Support

  • Provide technical support and assistance to customers via email, phone, and remote connection.
  • Develop and maintain technical support documentation for products and services.
  • Test and evaluate new products and software updates.
  • Escalate technical issues to vendors for resolution. 

Task Load Distribution


Sales (15%)

Doing presentations to customers, helping build solutions, and helping the sales team in general are tasks that are done often.

Marketing (35%)

The Solutions Engineer works closely with the marketing department to distribute technical material to the community, which helps sales growth and customer satisfaction.

Training (25%)

Many products that are sold in the company have an important level of specialization, these products require proper training to get the best out of them. The Solutions Engineer is the one responsible for doing this training to customers, to guarantee a good customer experience. These trainings are usually 1 week long.

Technical Support (15%)

The Solutions Engineer is responsible for giving technical support to customers via email, phone calls, virtual meetings, and/or remote connection. The company currently works with a ticket system, which has to be updated based on ticket resolution progress.

Typical Time Distribution

Month/Week

Each month/week, the Solutions Engineer has to fulfill three types of tasks: internal projects, training, and day-to-day tasks.

  • Internal Projects: These involve work that usually takes more than a couple of days, and the main objective is to generate a form of content internally that strengthens something inside the company. For example, preparing sales materials for the sales team, building new training, preparing technical resources for marketing, etc.
  • Trainings: Product trainings are done monthly, and can last up to a week.
  • Day-to-day tasks: these are tasks that usually take a couple of hours, like doing a sales technical presentation, attending support tickets, giving support to other departments, etc.

Day

  • Each day, the Solutions Engineer must work on the day-to-day tasks that were mentioned before, and do a balance between these and the internal projects. In the case of product training, the Solutions Engineer doesn't have to work on day-to-day tasks or internal projects and must focus his day on finishing the product training successfully. 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

Mechatronics, Electronics or Electrical Engineering

Programming knowledge

Python and SQL are preferred, but anything will be considered

Language

Fluent in Spanish (Native or C2). English B2 or C1 (+C1 is preferred)

Area knowledge

Industrial automation, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, MES, IIoT, etc.

Field knowledge

Understanding of industrial machines and processes 

Experience

2+ years of experience, but will not disqualify otherwise

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think creatively and outside the box

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

  • Strong customer service skills, with a focus on ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Willingness to travel as needed

There will be a qualification system that will grade each candidate according to their experience. Years of experience and recommendation letters will be important criteria for valuation.

Physical Requirements

In some cases, it would be needed to visit the customer's location. Because of the industrial nature of our customers, personal protective equipment will be needed when doing these visits. The necessary equipment will be provided by NV Tecnologias.

The candidate must reside in Costa Rica. Any location within the country will be considered, but they must be able to travel to Grecia in Alajuela for on-site meetings and training.
